IDR is seeking a Senior PostgreSQL DBA / AWS Database Architect to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity. This role involves supporting and optimizing enterprise-level PostgreSQL databases in AWS environments, with a focus on high availability, performance tuning, and seamless database operations. The client operates within a technology-driven industry and is looking for a highly experienced professional to support their critical infrastructure.
Position Overview for the Senior PostgreSQL DBA / AWS Database Architect:
- Administer, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL databases in AWS RDS and Aurora environments
- Independently troubleshoot and resolve production database incidents and client-reported issues
- Analyze database performance using PostgreSQL-native tools such as pg_stat_activity, EXPLAIN / EXPLAIN ANALYZE query execution plans, and connection/session monitoring tools
- Manage and optimize connection pooling strategies utilizing tools like PgBouncer
- Design and implement scalable, highly available database architectures and support deployment, migration, upgrades, and patching activities
Requirements for the Senior PostgreSQL DBA / AWS Database Architect:
- 7+ years of DBA experience with strong focus on PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience supporting PostgreSQL databases in AWS environments
- Strong experience with Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL performance tuning and query optimization
- Experience managing connection pooling and concurrency strategies
